The Cock & Hoop is a cosy traditional pub nestled in the heart of the historic Lace Market.

It’s the perfect place to while away an afternoon in front of the fire sampling one of its five rotating cask ales, great selection of gin & whisky or sampling a craft ale or two. However, if you’re feeling hungry they now have a brand new menu, filled with an array of fantastic new dishes for you to try.

The menu takes traditional pub classics and, using the talents of the AA rosetted kitchen team, adds their unique twist on them. So, we have the French Burger (£10) a homemade burger, topped with brie & crispy onions served in a croissant bun with a side of chips; the lobster & shrimp mac & cheese (£14), a deliciously cheesy macaroni stirred through with shrimp, topped with sliced lobster tail; the ever popular Fish & Chips (£10), battered in Cock & Hoop Pale Ale and served with pease pudding and chips.

There are also a brand new selection of bar nibbles priced at £3 each or 2 for £5 – chorizo cooked in cider; local pork pie; homemade scotch eggs; padron peppers; and homemade pork scratchings. The desserts are where things get really interesting, all priced at £6 they include a deconstructed banoffee pie; and “bacon & eggs” – a dessert that looks like breakfast featuring caramelised brioche, scrambled egg ice cream and candied bacon. The Cock & Hoop believe in serving great food at a great price and this is shown in their fantastic daily offers.

Each day you can get a different main course with a drink for just £10, they also run a daily lunchtime offer of a sandwich and a drink for £7 (the fish finger ciabatta is amazing). To round the week off, they serve an amazing Sunday Roast – a selection of meats served with duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, vegetables, cauliflower cheese and gravy. Priced at only £10 – this is the only way to spend your Sundays.
