Finding the perfect up of coffee isn’t always easy, until you step foot into Cartwheel Coffee…

Independent coffee shops can be risky, but they can also surprise you when it comes to exploring new flavours – just like Cartwheel surprised us!

This café and roastery have managed to create the perfect coffee-food balance by producing a high-quality menu alongside their great varieties of coffee.

Expect the unexpected at Cartwheel with their hand-picked menu, offering a plethora of fresh, vegan and vegetarian dishes.

One of their most popular dishes is their avocado on toast, however recently they’ve taken a new twist on this with their smashed pea, broccoli and eggs on toast – hap-pea days!

During our visit we had the beetroot and celeriac soup with sourdough bread, so delightful and full of flavour – who wouldn’t love purple soup

Coming up next was the vegan special, consisting of roasted cauliflower, chickpeas, sun blushed tomatoes and crispy potato hash with lime and black pepper hummous, if that doesn’t sound amazing, I don’t know what does!

These ingredients combined, created the most flavoursome option, not only for vegans!

Next, we enjoyed a classic with a twist, a homemade sausage sandwich accompanied by Somerset brie, red onion marmalade on a rosemary focaccia from Welbeck Bakehouse with their crispy paprika potato-hash sides. The Somerset brie paired with the sausage patty was revolutionary!

We enjoyed speaking to Alex, who took us through the thought process behind this independent coffee shop.

Cartwheel’s aim is to source specific single origin coffee, paying close attention to the flavour and provenance. Experience a bag of coffee with a difference at Cartwheel – you won’t find a bitter coffee here!

More than just coffee, find out where it was farmed, the farmers who supplied the beans and alongside tasting notes, these details are what makes Cartwheel Café and Roastery stand out! The people of Cartwheel hold extensive knowledge about their coffee and ensure that nothing but the most outstanding flavours are showcased.

Sometimes on a Wednesday morning they hold their coffee cupping sessions, a process whereby they showcase all the coffee they have roasted to be tasted by a handful of their consumers.

If you don’t have time to pop in, you can experience their infamous coffee all from the comfort of your own home by visiting their online store. Whether it’s just a one-off or an ongoing subscription, they can cater to all your coffee needs!

We strongly suggest that you stop by Cartwheel next time you are in and around Nottingham to try their fresh, innovative menu and of course the perfect coffee!
