Children’s cancer charity, Sophie’s Journey, is set to host two special fundraising nights of live music in Nottingham and Derby.

Taking place at the Student’s Union at 67 Bridge Street in Derby on Saturday 4 November and at The Maze on Mansfield Road in Nottingham on Wednesday 29 November, the events will feature music from a number of up-and-coming acts from across the East Midlands.

Organised by University of Derby students Imran Khan and Mollie Ralph, the event at 67 Bridge Street will see Anna my Charlotte, Melanie Page, Paris Alexander, Sophie Anna and Michael Upton.

Meanwhile, the event in Nottingham will feature Mollie Ralph, Chloe Rodgers, Bonbinome, Siobhan Mazzei, Rosie Abbott, Paris Alexander, Jake Burns and Warren Ireland.

Both events are set to raise funds for Sophie’s Journey to buy a second static caravan at the Golden Sands Holiday Park in Mablethorpe.

The charity already has one caravan at the site and has been providing free holidays for children, teenagers and their families living with cancer. The initiative has proved so popular that 2017 has seen the caravan fully booked.

Sophie’s Journey was the name given by 12-year-old Sophie Robinson to her Facebook community page, on which she documented her two year battle against Medulloblastoma.

The page helped Sophie raise awareness of the condition whilst also raising funds and providing support for those also suffering with the condition. Sadly Sophie passed away at her home in January 2016 after a two-year battle with a brain tumor.
